Recently, Jew in the City’s Hollywood Bureau for Jewish Representation or JITC issued an open letter to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences criticizing “Jewish exclusion” from being specified as an “underrepresented group” by the Academy and also in the industry.
Thus far the letter has over 260 signatures from prominent Jewish entertainers.
“Jewish people being excluded from the Motion Picture Academy’s Representation and Inclusion Standards is discriminating against a protected class by invalidating their historic and genetic identity.”
This is, perhaps, the weirdest (and most tone deaf) entertainment story of the year so far and we’ve only just begun.
